What is flambient real estate photography?
Flambient joins two words: flash and ambient. You shoot a room with flash and with its own light, then blend the shots by hand.

How flambient works
1. Take the ambient shot
One shot with the room's own light, for mood and warmth.
2. Take the flash shot
One shot with flash, usually bounced off the ceiling, for clean color.
3. Take a window shot
One darker shot so the view outside keeps its detail.
4. Blend them
Layer the shots in your editor and mask in the best parts of each one.
Flambient or HDR?
- Flambient gives cleaner color and crisp windows but takes more gear and more editing.
- HDR is faster on site but mixed light can leave color casts.
- For a few listings a month, a good HDR routine is often enough.

Questions and answers
Do I need a flash for flambient?
Yes. Most photographers bounce the flash off a ceiling or wall for soft light.
Is flambient better than HDR?
It often gives cleaner color and windows, but it takes longer. The right choice depends on your time and gear.
Does flambient need an MLS label?
Usually not. Blending your own shots of the real scene is normal processing. Check your MLS to be sure.
Edit your listing photo, keep the original.
Start with one photo. Your original always stays as you took it.
